A good gaming computer for around £800?

I need a good gaming computer for around £800. I’ll be using it for uni work aswell so it’ll need to be capable of all the other obvious stuff such as going on the internet and all of that. I have limited knowledge of computers so if anybody could come up with some suggestions that would be great?
I already have a good monitor!

Since you already have a monitor, go for the 8800GTX or Ultra graphics card and E6850 processor. Surely that will be an awesome set up that will play ALL games even at high settings.

something GeForce 9800GT

Im no computer wizz so if i left something out let me know

also i play mw2 and black ops on my pc and if you have any pointers about how to make it stop lagging id really appreciate it

They’re ok but the weak point is your graphics card. It’s not really bad but there are many far better cards available today. For example a 1GB Geforce GTX460 is reasonably priced but is much better than the 9800GT, which came out a few years ago now. The Core2Quad is a good processor and will be fine for even a GTX580.

im looking to get a new computer, i know they can be very expensive, but i just want to play games like shogun2 and other games you can’t get on console, i don’t really know mutch about computers so i can’t build one, and i don’t know anyone that can.

If your gonna game on a computer you should know how to put them together for when you want to upgrade stuff. Barebones kits from tigerdirect are a good way to get started.

-8GB or more
-0 processor or more
-more than 0 graphics card
-SSD would be best but a 64mb cache HDD will do fine, any size but you’ll have trouble finding anything less than 750GB with 64mb
-operating system… well either you get windows or your not making a very good gaming computer

-also get a decent case with good airflow and a mid range motherboard.

you can’t buy a gaming computer unless you get an overpriced alienware.

My computer keeps restarting when i play Call of Duty 4? my gaming rig easily has configurations to play. why?

in the middle of the game my computer just restarts? i am running vista 64 bit? could this be why?

My first guess would be that it’s overheating.
Second guess, you have driver issues with the video card.
Third, it could be corrupted game files, and a re-install may help it.

When it comes to computers, could be a lot of things.
