Slower internet speeds on all but ONE computer, HELP?

Earlier today Comcast came to our house and upgraded our internet from 12 MB/s to 22 mb/s speed. We have a larger house using wifi internet with 3 laptops (2 XP, 1 Win7). Our wifi has always slowed down speeds on the computers. Our laptops were generally getting 3-6 download speed via speedtest.net. Then when we plugged in directly we got full 12 mb/s.

Today we are doing speed tests with the new 22mb/s and only my dad’s win-7 laptop is getting 21mb/s via wifi. Even when right next to the router the other 2 laptops only max out at 6mb/s and can not go any higher. When directly connected they get the full 22mb/s.

My question to you guys is why is it that one computer gets full speed via wifi when the 2 XP computers do not? It really seems like the speed has a cap at 6.35mb/s download, never goes higher on the speed test.

Currently using a Linksys WRT160N Router. When I check the DHCP Client Table it shows that all computers are connected via Wireless-G so it’s not a connection type. I’m baffled.

Is there a specific setting on the XP computers that are capping speed? Any help would be so very much appreciated!

Betcha they have Atheros wiFi cards!

Those guys had a bad habbit of capping at 6 megs.

try a new driver set on one of the XP boxes.

Can anyone give me any information to make this work. I can’t play trailers or videos and im very upset. Please help.
Okay. umm… i can hear the songs like for music videos and can hear the sound effects but i don’t see anything except for the thing where it says:

and i dont have a right click button on my laptop any other suggestions?
osx i have a mac aka apple computer laptop.
and i can play them on the computer but not on my ipod.
why dont you give me the windows one just and ill see if i can get it to work. i am an electronic wiz and i just have a few problems with ipods. thanks for the tips though.

My blackberry phone isn’t working. Help?

I got a Blackberry 8950 I think it is. Its one of those common phones, not the new updated ones with touch screen and all that. Anyway, long story short, I was listening to music when I was getting out of the shower, and I was trying to turn my music from my phone off, and it wouldn’t pause or stop the music. So I’m guessing that the vapor in the bathroom must have affected it. I reset it by taking the battery off then reinserted it, and now, the slider thingy in the center of the phone moves as normal, the image is fine, but when I press down on any of the buttons, it won’t give. I tried the blow dryer trick for like an hour, and nothing. I tried the “bag of rice” trick for exactly 3 days as told to do so, and still nothing. Can anyone suggest maybe a legit trick or possibly a method for it to work again? I been missing alot of important calls, and I’m just desperate as f**k. Just saying “/

Help with purchasing a PDA? What would u recommend?

I plan to buy a pda with a good processor, wifi, bluetooth, and some good softwares in it… and yes offcourse not something very expensive.
i went and checked out the HTC TOUCH CRUISE, it has a 400mhz, wifi , bluetooth .. inspite of 400mhz, it is so slow in reacting, (oh , i forgot its a touch screen), u need to tap atleast a couple of times to get it working, and the sales guys said it hangs up alot, gps sucks big time … , AND with all this it costs a bomb, i.e, 3200AED, (IN DOLLARS – 3200 X 3.67) i am not into business, but i would really like to own one, coz it helps u alot from carrying ur laptop everywhere

JFYI, we dont get DELL handhelds or PDA’S here in UNITED ARAB EMIRATES.

The HTC Touch Diamond is coming soon.
Wait for it. It has a 528Mhz processor and touch 3d flow instead of simple touch flow.
It also offers better display and the phone is smaller in size!!!

Need help finding a new MP3 player?

Before I go any further, I do not want an iPod/iPad/iPhone or any Apple products. I do not like using proprietary software such as iTunes. Also, I do not want a smartphone, I do not have the money to waste on data plans. Until smartphones become the standard and data plans are eliminated I have no intention of buying one.

I’m in the market for a new MP3 player, but I cannot find anything that meets my requirements. Previously I had an Archos 5 IMT (without Android) and I liked it. It had almost everything I wanted: large storage capacity, wifi, touchscreen, and somewhat compact. Of course the reliability of the unit was a problem; the touchscreen stopped working properly on the right half of it for the second time. Quite frankly, I don’t want to deal with that again and there are newer products out there.

My main requirements from most important to least are as follows:
60GB+ capacity & portable (sort of a tie)
Android
capacitive touch screen (not too big a deal)

I’ve looked at three of the new Archos tablets, but each one seems to be lacking in some way.
Archos 5 IT (with android)- old, clunky firmware; over a year old technology.

Archos 43 – lacks a decent amount of storage; even with a 32GB microSD card (which will run me another ) inserted I don’t have enough room for all my media files.

Archos 70- HUGE, has a whopping 7″ display, that is by no means portable. I want something that will fit in my pocket.

Unfortunately, each has its pros and cons, but none meet my expectations. Is there any other device out there that meets my requirments. Every company seems to either be chasing the tablet market or ditching storage for flash memory. Nobody (Creative, Phillips, Samsung, Sony, etc.) seems to offer what I want. Thanks

so wednesday july 14 i had this guy message me on facebook that i was friends with, but i didnt really know him know him, and so i asked him how i knew him and he said that he has heard of me, he lives in a small city right next to mine, but i gave him my number and he texted me the next morning because i told him the night before that i had to go because i had to get up early that morning, so he texts me at 7 in the morning and i didnt respond because it was too early for me, then i had surgrey around 10 and he texted me around 12 and responded ill text you later because i just had surgrey and he texted back what kind of surgrey and i responded around 5 that night, and we texted all that night, then he texted me friday and we texted all friday, and i notice that this guy was different, and they saturday i woke up and he had texted me, and i didnt respond , then he texted me agian and i didnt respond, then around 5 that sat, he texted me and i still didnt respond, then around 10 that night he texted me and said you ingoring me, and i didnt respond, then around 11 he texted me and said hey, i didnt reply, then around 1 in the morning he text well if your not going to reply then ill just delete your number and wont text you agian, and i was fine with that, so i didnt text back, then i told my best friend about that and she that he was crazy, then i talked to another one of my friends and she said that he is a little weird. well then he texted me last night and said hey and i didnt respond till around today at 3 and i said i thought you werent going to text me, and he said well i got mad because you didnt reply and i said well you text me like every day, and he said well thats because i like talking to you, sorry i thought you liked talking to me, and it really didnt make a difference. and i said well i dont want to text you everyday, and he said well i will text you once a week, and i said i dont want you to plan out when your going to text me, well then he said okay what are you doing, and i said babysitting, but i have to go. and he said okay then i thought he was going to like text me in a couple of days, and i was sitting on my bed packing and watching the new teen mom, and this boy texted me, and i thought he had lost his mind, he is like texting me every 5 minutes, and i like texting but im not that fast since i got my new touch screen phone so it takes me like 2 minutes to text a regular text and so i just stopped texting alot, so this boy texts me almost everyday and when he texts me i will text back, put my phone down and look at the computer and then my phone will vib, and its him, and like its got to a point where i just leave it alone then when my phone vibs, like 3 minutes later i will text back.

I would like for the name of a model that suits me. This is what I’m looking for in a phone

- Does not need internet to work
- Slide out keyboard for texting!!
- Sorry if this is unclear. Preferably no numbers sticking out in the front. I don’t wish to have dial numbers on the front of the phone
- No Samsungs!!
- Good for texting
- No contracts, though I am with T Mobile and I cannot switch to any other company; so maybe a phone that requires a contract with T Mobile is fine
- Not too expensive
- Can have a touch screen as well, though I don’t really care if it has or doesn’t.
- Not too “out dated”
- Just almost over all good quality
