is there a way to send messages to other computers through the command prompt on windows vista?

I am in a computer class, we have about thirty (30) computers all on one (1) server. Last year, we had windows XP, and through the command prompt, it was possible to send messages to other computers using “Net send” I am curious as to if there is a way to send messages to other computers, using a similar command in the command prompt for windows vista, as “net send” doesn’t work.

Well depending on which version of windows vista, if you have Windows Vista Business or Ultimate you could use the msg command:

Just go to cmd and type: msg /?
and you will see the syntax for this net send in vista.

Question:

i have 5 computers in my office all are running under windows xp.?

Now am gonna buy 2 more (so totally 7)and make one of them as server(i can install windows server 2003) and other 6 as clients(ordinary xp 2003).I think if i create an active directory environment it will be helpful for me,bcos am planning to deploy more resources in my company..
Pls help me in detail how can i do that..

you should be able to do that
just make sure that the server computer is not used for anything else
It does not have to be a powerfull computer- just make sure that it is used as a server alone – nothing else ( a workstation for example)
Otherwise the system will bog down to a crawl

How many Computers can I put WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL ACADEMIC on in my house?

There are three computers (All belong to students) and we only bought one item. Can we put it on all three? Also, soon there will probably be another computer (also belonging to a student)

legally 1 copy per computer. if you know any thing about torrents take a look for a cracked coppy Burn it as an ISO onto a DVD and boot from the dvd
